LASSie: Murals and Retail Illustrations

While backpacking in Malaysia I met Narelle, the owner of a public art space called the Art Lane in Georgetown, Penang, and an animal shelter called LASSie on Langkawi island. Narelle’s shelter does marvelous work on Langkawi and is supported by her resort, Bon Ton, and sales from the resort shop.

I came up with two murals for the Art Lane to raise awareness for LASSie and encourage volunteers, adoptions and donations, as well as two t-shirt designs to be sold at the resort shop. 100% of the proceeds will go to LASSie.

Artist Kate Collett works on a mural of dogs and cats surrounding a red heart with the words “Adopt, Donate, Love” inside. Other murals in the Art Lane, located in Georgetown, Malaysia, are visible in the background.

I designed the flow of the plants and the dog’s gaze to lead the viewers’ eye towards the call to action for LASSie volunteers. The flowers were inspired by local traditional batik designs.
