Art Therapy Project: Coloring Book

The Art Therapy Project is a nonprofit mental health organization based in NYC that provides free group art therapy to adults and youth affected by trauma. They approached me to illustrate several coloring pages that would serve as the intro to an activity book with the goal of providing engaging and educational materials on Art Therapy as well as at home art activities for all age groups.

The copy was provided, but the prompt allowed for a lot of creative freedom. I approached these coloring pages with a goal to make them flexible for different personalities, in that users can color all the details differently if they wish, or just color in the larger sections as a whole, and it will work either way.

Illustrated coloring page: A happy squirrel paddles a canoe heading into the sunset, unaware of storm clouds gathering behind her. Hand lettering in the sky reads “Sometimes, navigating life’s ups and downs isn’t easy.”
